Hat Trick Higgins!

June 10th 2019

Siobhan Higgins scored a first half hat trick and TTI Bluebonnets led 4-0 at half time on way to a 4-1 home win over WPSL newcomers Alamo City SC on Saturday night at Presbyterian Outdoor Education Center (POEC).

With the win, TTi continues their winning streak, having started the 2019 WPSL season with 4 straight victories, outscoring opponents 12 to 3 in that time.

Following a somewhat sluggish start, Higgins opened the scoring in the 24th minute by firing into the top corner after a loose ball fell to her feet outside the penalty area, 5 minutes later, Hannah Dauzat (Houston) opened her account for the season, latching onto a Samantha Stiglmair (Mississippi State) through ball and placing the ball out of the reach of the Alamo City goalkeeper into the bottom corner.

Higgins finished off a cross from Elena Santos before completing her hat-trick in the 41st minute in similar fashion as TTi went into the half time break with a comfortable advantage.

The second half saw a number of changes to the TTI lineup as the home team looked to manage the game; Alamo City got a consolation goal through Patterson in the 64th minute as she ran through 1 on 1 before finishing against Annabel Sweeney.

Sweeney made her return to the team and first appearance of the 2019 season following injury, making 4 saves in the victory.  With the hattrick, Higgins moves to 3rdin the country in the goals scored.
