TTi Stay without Defeat with 1-1 Tie at Albion
June 20th 2019
For the second time in a week, the top two teams in the Red River Southern Conference met at Presbyterian Outdoor Education Center (POEC), this time playing out a 1-1 draw with both goals coming from the penalty spot.
There was a sense of déjà vu as Albion Hurricanes FC Royals again took an early lead, this time converting from the penalty spot after a foul in the area. Rather than trading goals as in the reverse fixture, it was a lead that AHFC would hold until late in the second half when Taryn Siegele was brought down for TTi and Lianne Mananquil, making her first full start, slotted the resulting penalty in the 80thminute.
In the evenly matched contest, the teams looked threatening at times and chances were created at both ends. TTi had a goal ruled out in the first half for offside, before Siobhan Higgins hit the inside of the post from 18 yards. Defensively, the Bluebonnets were much improved, but still required Bella Killgore to make some vital interventions throughout both halves.
TTi remain in control of the destiny of the Red River South Conference title. The gap at the top remains 4 points, crucially however, TTi have 2 games in hand on their neighbors.
Next up for TTi is the final home fixture of the 2019 WPSL regular season against Lonestar SC of Round Rock, TX. Kick off is set for 7:00pm on Saturday June 22ndat POEC.
