Bluebonnets Take 3 Points on Road at Lonestar in Comfortable Victory

June 5th 2019

(Round Rock, TX) – In the first away trip of 2019, defending champions TTi Bluebonnets scored once in the first half and twice in the second on the way to a 3-0 win at Lonestar S.C. on Wednesday night.

With the win, TTi goes to second in the conference, a point behind the leaders having played one game less.

Tosh Minor opened the scoring after 35 minutes with a header from a pinpoint Cassidy Blanchard cross as TTi controlled possession and much of the game. Moving the ball well and creating chances, the finishing touch had eluded them up until that point against a Lonestar team that looked to contain but also be dangerous on the counter attack.

A defense well marshaled by Blanchard and Emily Townsend allowed the attack to create numerous chances in the second half but it took until the 68thminute for Townsend to convert a Ward corner for a 2-0 lead.  Ward then got in on the scoring for her second of the season in the 71stminute, following up an attempted Lonestar clearance after good work from both Andrioli and T.Minor.

In goal, Bella Killgore was relatively untroubled, needing to make one save, on her way to a second consecutive clean sheet.

There were debuts from the bench for Taryn Siegele (Arizona), A.Minor (Wisconsin) and Sylvannah Winstone (England).

Next up for TTi is a home clash with a new opponent, Alamo City SC, who are making their first appearance in the WPSL in 2019.  Kick off at Presbyterian Outdoor Education Center is 7:00pm on 6/8/19.
