TTi Sporting Director Looks Back on 1st 2020 Camp
January 22nd 2020
This past weekend saw TTi conduct its fist camp of the year at Presbyterian School in Houston, Texas.
The sessions were based on meaningful possession activities and match play in various formats.
“This is what the c amp programs are for” said Sporting Director Lee Cullip “to be able to impress the footballing beliefs of TTi where we outline our philosophy based on ‘Define, Develop, Recover & Defend” and really set out the principles of the game” Cullip said.
The principles were heavily worked on with the staff working out the responsibilities of the individual player, small groups, the team and yes, the ball. “It is the responsibility of the ball to find space and the players to create the best shapes to play within” Cullip mused. Defending was also looked at on an individual basis, relying on the players to transition quickly in a cerebral manner to ‘hunt’ the opposition down quickly to win back the ball.
In addition Diana Redman came out to speak to the players about goal setting, using the SMART Principles’ Specific, Measurable, Achievable & Time-Bound (S-M-A-R-T) which was great for the older players to apply to their arsenal.
The calendar is packed for 2020, which will include nine (YES 9!) camps as well as a full Summer of session (8.30am-1.30pm every day). The next TTi Soccer camp is in February 2020.
“The addition of the mini camps, which allow 2-3 sessions per day are key for the staff to really help the players in 2020” said TTi Staff Coach, Matt Evans “I think when you couple that with the summer training program which will see 3 sessions, match play with film plus some prominent guest coaches we are really excited for 2020” Evans concluded.
