TTi Hosts SBMSA in Match Play Event

March 9th 2020

TTi competed in friendly Match Play for the first time in 2020 yesterday at Presbyterian Outdoor Education Center. The players competed against Spring Branch Memorial Sports Association (SBMSA) in 4 matches Sunday afternoon.

The lion share of possession laid with TTi, playing for the first time in a friendly match together. Goals came from multiple positions and frequently form both groups. The players found avenues to attack and defend in in the Define-Develop-Recover-Defend ethos of TTi’s football principle style teaching method.

“Seeing the players from each campus coming together and playing well was what impressed me the most” said Sporting Director Lee Cullip “the application of the plan was a close second. It shows just how cerebral players are at a young age and with the high approach can apply simple and complex ideas under duress from opposition - really pleasing” Cullip concluded.

The style of play reflected the TTi DNA perfectly with almost zero aerial balls and the relentless attack of undependable areas. The defending looked cool and calm under passionate pressure from SBMSA.

Sports Science Manager Ed Shone recorded the player movements though GPS. “It gives us objective data which we can pass onto the players. The good piece fo this is that we can look more specifically at what TTi players should be doing and what the coaching staff want them doing during match scenarios. The data is invaluable” Shone said.

The ambience was festival-esque and the atmosphere was wonderful. TTi will look for several more play days in the near future, hosting Boerne Soccer Club from San Antonio in the coming months.

Houston Dash Goalkeeper & TTi Goalkeeping Coach, Jane Campbell was on the ground to raffle off a signed jersey to a lucky winner!
