What were your thoughts on TTi training/environment?
I love the approach as it focuses on player development. The age or stage of the player is secondary to the overall scheme to develop skillful players.
How does TTi stand out from typical club training sessions?
Too often many club training sessions work to “peak by Friday” as the saying goes. The main intent is to train to win the next match. With TTi the game outcome is less important than game performance. That means the training sessions can work on the long-term development of the players. How they will play in a year from now is just as important to TTi as how they play this week.
What would be the biggest thing you would like the players to take away from their time with you?
I hope that I spiked the interest of the players to want to learn more about the game. I hope that I nudged them along in their desire to be a life-long student of the game.
What suggestions would you have for those training at TTi that want to play at the next level?
Ask more questions to the coaches. That shows initiative and the desire to grow. Take advantage of the opportunities that you have at TTi to use your growth mindset.
