Bluebonnet Emily Townsend Wins All American Honors

Emily Townsend, center back for 2017 and 2018’s TTI Bluebonnets Conference Championship Teams, was recently named a United Soccer Coaches All America and received recognition at the United Soccer Coaches Convention in Chicago on January 12.
“Emily is a hometown player and thats important as we help develop the soccer landscape in Houston” said TTi Sporting Director, Lee Cullip “she embodies who we are as a team and group. Townsie is ever present with helping our youth players and is a fan favorite” Cullip concluded.
Emily has been part of the Bluebonnet’s back line and has been a four year starter at center back at Colorado School of Mines. She has been named a D2CCA All America twice, United Soccer Coaches All America, RMAC Defensive Player of the Year, RMAC Defensive Player of the Week four times, All-Region team, All-RMAC team, and RMAC All-Tournament team in her college career.
Dave Puro, Bluebonnets Head Coach said “We are happy to have her back this year, she’s a wonderful personality to have around the team locker room and a true leader and competitor on the field” Puro finished.
Emily has scored twelve goals and six assists in her career at Mines mostly on set pieces and has anchored a defense that has only allowed .36 goals per game her senior year. Her team has advanced to NCAA tournament for the last four years.
Townsend will join the Bluebonnets in 2019 as they prepare to defend their back to back titles.
